Andrea Brown McCoy was born in Florence, South Carolina to the late Malachi and Francenia Barr Brown. She was educated in the public school system of Florence, graduating from South Florence High School. Andrea earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina double majoring in Information Systems and Human Resource Management. She earned a graduate certification in Non-Profit Management from Winthrop University and is internationally certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP). 

Andrea works for Gilead Sciences as the Inclusion & Diversity Talent Acquisition Program Manager. She leads strategies to attract diverse talent to the organization and to sustain a culture of equity and inclusion.

In 2020, Andrea launched her business, Innovative Solutions, LLC.  A consulting firm equipped to help businesses, non-profit and faith-based organizations create strategies to optimize their systems and business processes. 

She is very active in community affairs particularly when it comes to advocating for families and children and has served on numerous boards over the years. Currently Andrea serves a the Chairperson for the South Carolina Foster Care Review Board representing the 6th Congressional District. She also chairs the Midlands Technical College Office Systems Advisory Board and is a member of the FBI Multi-Cultural Engagement Council.

 Andrea is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Gamma Nu Omega Chapter in Columbia, SC and a Charter Member of Cola City Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. 

She is a member of the Bible Way Church of Atlas Road where she was ordained as an Elder in January 2016 and recently promoted to Senior Elder. Andrea serves as an Executive Board member as well as with the Deacons Wives and Couples Ministry. 

Andrea is married to the loving and supportive Stephfon McCoy. They celebrate more than 35 years of marriage in September and are the proud parents and grandparents, with one daughter, son-in-love, and grand living in Dallas,TX.
